Railroad Earth’s music is driven by the remarkable songs of front-man, Todd Sheaffer, and is delivered with seamless arrangements and superb musicianship courtesy of all six band members. As mandolin/bouzouki player John Skehan points out, “Our M.O. has always been that we can improvise all day long, but we only do it in service to the song. There are a lot of songs that, when we play them live, we adhere to the arrangement from the record. And other songs, in the nature and the spirit of the song, everyone knows we can kind of take flight on them.” Sheaffer continues: “The songs are our focus, our focal point; it all starts right there. Anything else just comments on the songs and gives them color. Some songs are more open than others. They ‘want’ to be approached that way – where we can explore and trade musical ideas and open them up to different territories. But sometimes it is what the song is about.”

So: they can jam with the best of them and they have some bluegrass influences, but they use drums and amplifiers (somewhat taboo in the bluegrass world). What kind of music is it then? Mandolin/vocalist John Skehan offers this semi-descriptive term: “I always describe it as a string band, but an amplified string band with drums.” Tim Carbone takes a swing: “We’re a Country & Eastern band! ” Todd Sheaffer offers “A souped-up string band? I don’t know. I’m not good at this.” Or, as a great drummer/singer/mandolin player with an appreciation for Americana once said: “Rock & roll!”

Jeremy David Baker is an American folk rock artist, originally from Florida. He signed with Green Shoe Records in 2015. Jeremy’s music tells of hope, loss, and revival. His strong voice is full of texture and emotion. His first album with Green Shoe Records is in its final stages and will be released in early 2016.

Jeremy grew up in a very musical family. It has always been a Baker tradition to pass the guitar around at family events. His musical upbringing was an exceptionally eclectic search, carrying Jeremy from one genre to the next. He was raised on early rock n’ roll by the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. As a young teen, he discovered punk rock and spent a few years playing angsty fast-paced anthems before falling in love with old, classic, country folk music.

“If you dig through my record collection you’ll find blues, jazz, punk, metal, country, even a little hip hop. No jam bands though…never jam bands.”

Now, as a solo artist, he reveals the culmination of years spent refining a melting-pot sound which is both inventive and enchanting.

Maiden Cane were a little surprised when the video for their first original song received nearly 2000 YouTube views in under 24 hours; but this powerhouse group of veteran rockers have been creating a huge buzz in the Southwest Florida music scene since they first took the stage opening for Warrant in August of 2014.

Maiden Cane was formed in 2013 as a fusion of two of Southwest Florida’s most prestigious bands. Bass player Jim Kiefer joined forces with Shoestring Rocket guitarist Joey Gilbert to form the foundation. Keyboardist Billy Day was quickly added to increase the band’s versatility and vocalist Cliff Randi was locked in mid 2014. Local rock hero guitarist Pete Siracuse and Blues Hall of Fame drummer Michael Peck were added in 2016 to take the band to the next level. Fueled by an interest in high energy, arena rock like Boston, Journey, Styx and Bon Jovi, they set out to cover the big monster rock hits.

“Here we had the talent and range to cover some of rocks greatest music with great accuracy,” says Randi, “and a give a performance reminiscent of the original band in its heyday.”

The past experiences of these 6 powerhouse musicians includes playing alongside some of rock’s greatest heroes (REO Speedwagon, Eddie Money, Molly Hatchet, Joan Jett, Dream Theater, etc.) “While there are many cover bands out there paying tribute, the guys in Maiden Cane have lived it!” says Entertainment Coordinator and Agent Loren Berry. “They went forth on that principle, accepting only larger festival and event gigs with bigger audiences, where the setting is right for their high energy performance.”

Excited as the band was with their success playing covers, the creative urges soon kicked in and Maiden Cane began crafting original music. They recorded their first 2 original songs in mid-2015, expanding them into the realm of original artists. With a sound reminiscent of 80’s hair metal, distribution websites and local radio stations quickly took notice and put both songs in regular rotation locally and internationally over internet radio. Both songs have spent several weeks as the number 1 requested indie rock song on several internet radio charts. “I can’t get over these guys! Their original music takes me back to the music I love while putting a creative, new spin on it. They have made me a huge fan and I can’t wait to hear what they come up with next,” said concert promoter Jay Goldberg of Jay Goldberg Events and Entertainment.

“What it comes down to for us is that we are a band of brothers,” says Kiefer. “We love going out there in front of the big crowds and rocking out, and now we’ve seen that we can put together some amazing original music as well. We are excited to keep writing and go wherever that takes us!” With spots booked through 2016 opening for major acts, Maiden Cane is primed and ready to light up the stage with a decade’s tribute to arena style rock with some awesome originals peppered in. “Playing the classics is awesome,” says Gilbert, “But there is no better feeling than seeing a crowd rocking out to your own song. This way we can do both. That’s what Maiden Cane is all about!”

Way Down Wanderers and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades

Equal parts fast-paced and soulful, 5-piece modern-folk Americana act, The Way Down Wanderers, draw in listeners with energy, originality and soulful generosity. Playing, performing and writing together for just over 2 years, the Wanderers have built an enthusiastic and fast-growing following across the country, earning Deli Magazine’s Readers Choice title of “Chicago’s Best Emerging Artist, 2014.”
Youthful and professionally trained, these young men captivate audiences with soaring instrumentals, foot stomping sing-alongs and a lively stage show and have created a buzz for themselves with their unplugged, off-stage encores and propensity for performing self-titled, “restSTOMPS” – free acoustic sets at rest & truck stops along their tour routes. The band’s debut EP, “Path to Follow” and their brand new live EP, “Wellspring” are available wherever music is sold. The Way Down Wanderers first full-length album is due to release in the Spring or Summer of 2016.
Front-men and founders, Austin and Collin, met in their hometown of Peoria, IL when they joined the same folk band and embarked on their first tour at the ages of 14 and 18 years old. The two became fast friends and soon began writing music together, ultimately forming The Way Down Wanderers when Collin was 16 and Austin, 20 years old.

Hailing from the river town of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, HHG plays something like progressive high-energy Old-Time folk music. With strong roots in old-time and bluegrass, the band has formed it’s own unique style born from the diverse musical backgrounds and interests of the five friends who make up the band. All born and raised in the great state of Wisconsin, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades began playing music and their earliest shows in the spring of 2009. Since then, the band has shared the stage with Infamous Stringdusters, Yonder Mountain String Band, Railroad Earth, Charlie Parr, Pert Near Sandstone, Art Stevenson and Highwater, .357 String Band, The Big Wu, and many more. Being mostly inspired by rivers, valleys, good friends, and good drink, this five piece is as sturdy as any midwest riverbed and will make your toes tap from sundown to sunrise.
